Earlier last week I had turned on the TV to national news before I read my Bible verses for the day. Usually I try not to do this because I need daily heavenly fortification to help me face the problems of the world. However, that morning I overrode my daily regimen of Matthew 6.

 

On TV President Trump was being hammered by hostile media. I began hoping that he would speak of about reversing tax payers' funding to abortion providers outside of America and the appointments of Dr. Ben Carson to HUD and a prolife Supreme Court Justice.

 

I was in danger of putting my confidence in President Trump rather than God. As I was slipping into emotional reactions, I came to my senses, turned off the television and began to pray: 1 Timothy 2:1-3

 

Thursday had been a media day for me.

 

I released a blog that said that race baiting, Bible baiting and sexism across the aisles must cease.

 

I texted some fellow prayer warriors: "VERY intense warfare. Heart was getting heavy. On a call right now about exposing spiritual darkness and averting disaster."

 

Friday I joined a conference call where a "Trump Resistance Movement" was discussed. We wondered if the "Resistance" really understands that their movement is fueled and funded by those who support abortion, anarchy and the like? Do they seriously want to resist restoring jobs from overseas, restoration of our inner cities, putting Americans back to work? Are they seriously resisting ending racism, reproductive genocide, sexual perversion, and global terror?

 

I shared a word from our "prayer warriors" camp: "Praying to circumvent the demonic structures and infrastructures and traps. Guidance by Holy Spirit. Political correctness is serious witchcraft (mind control). Don't ask God to show up. He is waiting for us to show up. [to wake up, get up and get busy]"

 

Take always:

1. Don't turn on the TV before prayer and Bible reading.

2. Turn off the TV [and radio and social media and human conversation]; pray when your emotions get ahead of your spirit.

3. Pray with encouraging partners who can uplift with unbiased input.

4. Avoid all strife. Love and forgive. Seek highest ground of Agape Love as well as nonviolent conflict resolution.

5. Spend quality time with God.

Lambsdorff-Interview: Merkel muss nach Washington fahren

Berlin. 20. Februar 2017. (mediap). Das FDP-Präsidiumsmitglied und Vizepräsident des Europäischen Parlaments Alexander Graf Lambsdorff gab der „Rheinpfalz" (Montag-Ausgabe) das folgende Interview. Die Fragen stellte Ilja Tüchter:

Frage: Widersprüchliche Signale sind das, die aus Washington kommen. Erst ist die Nato obsolet, dann doch sehr wichtig. Sind Sie nach der Rede von US-Vizepräsident Mike Pence in München schlauer über die Ziele und die Werkzeuge der künftigen US-Sicherheitspolitik?

Lambsdorff: Die Rede war in zweierlei Hinsicht interessant: Einmal ein klares Bekenntnis zur Nato, aber verbunden mit der erneuten Aufforderung an die Europäer, mehr Verantwortung zu übernehmen und auch mehr zu leisten. Das unterstützen wir als FDP, der Blick auf die Ungewissheit in Europas unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft zeigt ja, dass wir mehr tun müssen, zum Beispiel bei Terrorbekämpfung und Cyberabwehr. Der zweite wichtige Punkt ist etwas, das Pence nicht gesagt hat: Er hat das Abkommen mit Iran über dessen Atomprogramm nicht in Frage gestellt. Das ist deswegen bemerkenswert, weil Präsident Trump dieses Abkommen ja kritisiert hat. Es könnte ein Hoffnungszeichen in einer strategisch ganz wichtigen Frage sein, dass Pence das in München nicht wiederholt hat.

Frage: Die EU hat Herr Pence nicht einmal erwähnt. Sorgt Sie das als EU-Parlamentarier?

Lambsdorff: Nein, denn die Unsicherheit, die in den ersten Wochen dieser US-Administration entstanden ist, bezog sich ja auf Artikel 5 des Nato-Vertrags, also die Beistandsverpflichtung aller Alliierter füreinander. Die wurde scheinbar in Frage gestellt durch die Aussage, die Nato sei „obsolet". Pence war da ganz klar: Die USA stehen zur Nato, und aus amerikanischer Sicht ist die Nato das entscheidende Bindeglied im transatlantischen Verhältnis. Da bin ich nicht enttäuscht, das finde ich nachvollziehbar.

Frage: Donald Trumps Chefberater ist Stephen Bannon, dem eine apokalyptische Weltsicht und auch ein Hass auf den Islam nachgesagt werden. Drohen jetzt Alleingänge der Vereinigten Staaten, vor denen Ursula von der Leyen hier in München am vergangenen Freitag gewarnt hat? Sehen Sie diese Gefahr?

Lambsdorff: Ja, natürlich macht mir das Sorgen. Es gibt Kräfte in der amerikanischen Regierung, die in diese Richtung denken. Das haben wir in Europa ja auch: Geert Wilders, Marine Le Pen, bei uns die AfD befürworten auch eine nationalistische und deshalb im Ergebnis aggressive Politik. In Washington ist aber die Frage völlig offen, ob die Nationalisten sich in der mittleren Frist durchsetzen werden. Um nur das Beispiel des Iran-Abkommens nochmal zu nehmen: Hier könnte sich etwas bewegen. Genauso bei der Frage der Nato. Als Europäer ist für uns ganz klar, dass wir die liberale internationale Ordnung bewahren wollen, die auf Zusammenarbeit und multilaterale Organisationen setzt.

Frage: So mancher USA-Experte hierzulande setzt auf den US-Kongress als Korrektiv der Regierung Trump. Sie sind da skeptisch. Warum?

Lambsdorff: Weil 2018 schon wieder Kongresswahlen sein werden. Republikanische Abgeordnete werden sich dreimal überlegen, ob sie es sich mit einem gerade frisch gewählten Präsidenten verscherzen wollen. Der könnte ihnen im Wahlkreis die Unterstützung entziehen. Die Checks and Balances funktionieren, aber die Staatsgewalt, die da den längeren Hebel hat, ist die Judikative, also die Gerichte, nicht der Kongress. Das hat sich ja nun beim umstrittenen Einwanderungs-Dekret gezeigt.

Frage: Trump hat mit dem japanischen Regierungschef Abe schon Golf gespielt. Er hat Premierministerin May und Israels Ministerpräsidenten Netanyahu empfangen. Mit Kanzlerin Merkel hat er bisher nur telefoniert. Was sagt uns das?

Lambsdorff: Das ist ein Punkt, den wir als FDP wirklich kritisieren. Bei aller Enttäuschung über den Ausgang der US-Wahl, es ist doch klar, dass wir mit dieser US-Regierung reden müssen. Frau Merkel muss deshalb nach Washington fahren. Es kann doch nicht sein, dass Politiker wie Theresa May und Nigel Farage Donald Trump die EU und die Weltpolitik erklären. Was Abe gemacht hat, als wichtigster Verbündeter im pazifischen Raum, muss Merkel als wichtigste Verbündete im atlantischen Raum tun. Sie muss hinfahren. Aufs Golfspielen kann sie von mir aus gerne verzichten.

Frage: Glauben Sie, Mike Pence wird ein ähnlich einflussreicher Vize sein wie seine Vorgänger Biden und Cheney?

Lambsdorff: Der Vizepräsident hängt völlig von der Gnade des US-Präsidenten ab, was seinen Einfluss und sein Gewicht angeht. Aber Pence ist ein seriöser Mann. Mir persönlich ist er zu konservativ, aber er war lange Kongressabgeordneter, auch Gouverneur von Indiana. Er ist kein politisch Unerfahrener, der auf einer populistischen Welle ins Amt gespült wurde. Ich würde mir daher wünschen, dass Trump auf seinen Rat hört.
